With the new year already in full swing, we’re getting some very exciting news from the gaming world about what we can expect this year.
With the new generation of consoles ready to show off their amazing graphic performance and ability to create open-world scenarios, it looks like we’re at a turning point in gaming history. So here’s a few titles to look forward to.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Director Hideo Kojima returns in 2015 with the hugely anticipated Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Taking advantage of the PS4′s incredible hardware, the action will again focus on stealth based espionage, but will feature much more realistic scenarios.
There will be more freedom in how you navigate missions through the open-world environments, and the brutal storylines will be pushed to the max as you reach the chilling climax of this incredible series.
And there’s already a great deal of hype about the next batch of Hollywood tie-ins. The likes of Batman: Arkham Knight is making news with the face that Rocksteady are back on board, and Star Wars Battlefront is making sci-fi fans salivate because, well it’s Star Wars!
But the dark horse that is also certain to cause interest is the possibilty of a new James Bond game. Given that filming for the next movie is already well underway, it seems fairly certain that a game tie-in will follow suit. Nobody’s quite sure what to expect yet, but given that the title of the film is ‘Spectre’ – a throwback to earlier films – it is expected to follow the traditional Bond route of fast cars, high-tech gadgetry and glamorous casinos.
Of course, these things can take time and if the franchise is pushed back until 2016, you can still recreate the Bond casino excitement with the equally glamorous Euro Casino that takes advantage of the incredible mobile gaming boom!
One new release that is looking at gaming in a whole new light is Persona 5. The Japanese role playing game allows you to control people who can then manifest elements of their psyche into entities called Personas that can help them in battle, both in the real world, and against supernatural monsters and demons.
Sound confusing? Well that’s part of the deal of the game which promises to offer a level of depth hitherto unknown in the gaming world. And as producer Katsura Hashino crytically states, the game will focus on the ‘power to destroy feelings of entrapment’. Much more than you’d expect from the usual shoot-em-up!
Halo 5: Guardians
But for those of us back in the real world, you can rest easy in the knowledge that the next installment of the Halo series is just around the corner.
Halo 5: Guardians sees the return of Master Chief to the Xbox. But there have also been a succession of subtle hints about brand new characters, new monsters and most impressively a 60 frames-per-second graphics rate which will showcase the incredible power of the new Xbox one!
